RIFFS & RUNS combines group exercises with one-on-one attention. Come prepared to learn AND have fun! Everyone will sing at once, you will sing on your own, and you will learn by watching others sing.
Every class includes a short lecture portion where Rebecca will walk you through the necessary theory you need to know, and then it's time to apply, apply, apply!
We ensure personal attention by limiting class enrollment to 6 students max. (A minimum of 5 registrants is required for the course to proceed.)
Located in the heart of downtown Vancouver on Seymour @ Smithe. Grab an early dinner at one of the surrounding hip restaurants before class. But don't eat too much--you still need to sing!

Rebecca is a professional vocalist and certified with the Institute for Vocal Advancement (IVA). She has 10 years of experience teaching singers of all abilities and ages, from children to professional musicians and record label signed artists. As an Advanced Instructor at IVA, she is responsible for training and mentoring other voice teachers in vocal technique, song application and pedagogy to the standard required for certification. She teaches workshops internationally as well, to voice teachers and singers in North America and across Europe.
As a singer, Rebecca has sung in Vancouver indie band, Forest and the Sea, the Delisle Vocal Project, The Phonix (R&B funk/soul band) and her own original music project. She has recorded with Juno-Award winning artists such as Brian Doerkson and Devin Townsend.
For 7 years, Rebecca directed a live music and industry networking event, showcasing local Vancouver musicians to music industry professionals. In 2016, Rebecca was nominated for a YWCA Women of Distinction Award in the category of Arts and Culture, for her work as a singer, voice teacher and volunteer in the Vancouver music community.

Learn the phrasing tricks that make any singer sound soulful! Learn how to riff on lyrics in a way that enhances the meaning of a song. Begin to write your own runs and sing them!
Learn the basic music theory behind 90% of all riffs and runs in contemporary music. Discover the musical landscape of pop/R&B with practice drills and exercises. Brush up on your rhythm and groove to sing riffs & runs with swag!
After selecting songs in the previous class, learn how to apply the techniques you learned in Class 1-3 to the songs you want to sing!
